Failures

I Realised where I Failed – You might be doing the Same Thing!

Hi Guys, Enough of good and motivational posts. Though I have written a few more of them which might be good enough to turn some people crazy with what we can do with Online Marketing but will be publishing them sometime later.

From the last few days / months, I have been into complete self-introspection mode doing SWOT analysis day and night and trying to figure out what exactly have I done wrong in my life. Like every dreamer I have been working day and night since last 7-8 years to fulfil my dreams, I have hardly taken breaks or hardly got distracted from my goals. Then what is it, why have I not fulfilled my goals till now?

 Talking about my Goals:

  • My Short term Goal by 25 was to have a personal Saving of $2-3 million
  • My Long term Goal was (is) to become a Billionaire by 30.

Yes! I kept monetarily goals. Some may feel that its good, some may feel pathetic about it. But that’s me and my goals and I would like to keep them just like that.

I turned 25 about 2 months back and yes, I missed my first target by a decent number. I have had enough sleepless nights trying to analyse what exactly I missed in the whole process and WHY EXACTLY I FAILED?

Before that, here is a quick summary of things I think I did right.

1) Read a lot – I am an avid reader and have read almost 200+ books in last 3 years which is like completing more than 1 book a week which is a better speed than most of the people I know and yes, they certainly helped me a lot in making me a better version of myself.

2) Met a lot of People – As rightly said “Your Network is your Net Worth”, I met a lot of awesome people in the journey. Some of the brands whose performance was a benchmark for my company (set by me) when I started, their CEO’s and founders are like really great friends of mine now. So it was all right and its awesome to learn from them.

3) Did not get distracted at teenage – Well unlike most of my friends I did not hang around randomly or partied every day / night, though I did that in balance but work was always my first priority and this is something I really adore about my life when I look back.

4) Helped a lot of people – I tried to help almost everyone I could in my journey and make life of as many people awesome as I could. It has payed back in a great way and maybe its because of the blessings and support of all those people that we have reached this point today.

5) Never Forgot my Roots – No matter where I reached or whatever I achieved, I never forgot my roots. It is one of the most crucial things that helped me maintain what was created.

So all this is good enough, but where exactly did I fail? Is it just me or is it a cause of failure of a lot of people around me?

I started studying a pattern of things where all I failed in real life. So here is the list:

a) I failed at being regular to the Gym
b) I failed at being regular to the college
c) I failed at maintaining my health
d) I failed at continuing my Guitar Classes
e) I failed at working on Long Term Websites

And basically I realised that I failed at almost EVERYTHING which required CONSISTENCY. And when I observed the pattern, the same was with business.
In the last 3 years, I started almost 4 different companies out of which 3 were just at break even or marginal profits just because of me not being consistent.

Here is a graph of my life journey till now (Ignore the revenue on the Y axis as this image is taken from Google):

consistencyfeatured

I am a strategist, I am an innovator, I love to create things. I love to devise a system for them, the vision for them but I fail to be consistent at their execution and just because I don’t feel like, no other reason.

That is the reason in the last 3 years I have never built a long term SEO website however we have worked with over 150+ clients in SEO and got them amazing results.
I have never built a successful product of mine wherein we have worked with over 50+ Product based companies and helped them scale their profits multifold month on month.

I love fast life. I love to meet new people, create new things and move on. Someone very close told me – “Ravi you are living the life of – Aage Dod, Peeche Chod”, you run for things ahead trying to expand and leave what you created without making it stable.

Maybe when I say “I Failed”, many of you guys reading this post maybe relate to it.

In lots of forthcoming blog posts I am going to write, you might notice this trait of mine. But anyways, in the last 2 months I have worked over it and the results have been pretty impressive till now. If it continues, I will write a case study on what all changes did being consistent bring in my life.

Till then, here is the learning for me and everyone around. Though we all already know about it but still for get at times:
consistency-is-key

In the next blog post, I might be covering on “How I acquired my first company at the age of 19”.

But that’s some other time. Till then, If you feel that you are also failing in life just because of being inconsistent, start working on it immediately. You might save a couple of years of your life by the same. Small things bring a big change in your life. In case you can relate to it or would like any help of mine in it anywhere, feel free to comment. Would love to reply you and help in in whatever way I can. More on it next time.

    Hi Ravi,

    Thanks for sharing this write-up.

Most of us know that consistency is the key but a very less amount of people really follow it. And, it happens the most when you love to innovate or discover new things on a regular basis.

I had also screwed up so many things just because I wasn’t consistent or got indulged in many things at a time.

But, as you know it’s never too late, if one realize our mistake and fix it.

    Thanks once again.

    Keep writing more such experiences.

    Regards,
    Vinay

After being in touch with you for so long, I have realised that a review here is of equal importance to a personal WhatsApp message mentioning how relatable and motivational this post was! Looking forward to more such posts and more importantly, hearing a story so good and knowing that it’s not a fable because I’m witnessing it first hand.

  • Hey Ravi,

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Martin Luther King Jr.

I think your post is really inspiring (though you didn’t want). I think entrepreneurship and blogging needs patience and if have to focus on our short-term and long-term goals.

I think, you haven’t failed because the number of books you have been reading and the number of people you have been meeting are really helping YOU and your business.

    Thanks for inspiring us Ravi.

Hi Ravi, I know you have helped many people in your journey including me, I truly agree with you that one reason why I am not reaching my goals is CONSISTENCY. Thanks for such an amazing post.
